My Lord's Story: Goodness Incarnate

Ramayanam in English poetry.

The Supreme Lord of the Universe was once born on this earth as a Human Being, faced challenges and had His share of pain and pleasure going through both good and bad times like any of us. Like any of us He too, took His turn in laughter and cry.

This humility of The Lord, that makes Him come down to earth and share with us our difficulties to show us a way to handle them is what I admire in Him. This quality of Him, makes me surrender to Him unconditionally and makes me want to sing His Glory on and on and on.

My Lord's Story is an out pour of my devotion that seeps out in gratitude for the pains He took to be a lighthouse for us, to cross the ocean of Samsara.

Super King Rama and Super Star Rajnikanth

This article is a translation of a Tamil article, I posted on my Tamil blog, http://iamhanuman.blogspot.in/2014/04/blog-post_7090.html

Shri Rama's grace is like the rain from the sky and Swami Raghavendhra is one of the lakes, who receives the grace and makes it available for all us, common men. Super Star Rajnikanth is a devout follower of Swami Raghavendhra. In his hundreth film, Rajnikanth played the role of, his favourite God, Guide and Gaurdian, Swami Raghavendhra in the Tamil movie Shri Raghavendhra. It was an expression of Rajnikanth's gratitude for the success and stardom, Swami Raghavendhra had bestowed upon him.

This makes it clear that Rajnikanth has received The Unrelenting Blessings of Shri Rama!

When I realised this, I included the following lines in praise that I wrote for Lord Rama.

Moola Rama, who was worshipped by Raghavendhra
Raghavendhra, who was meditated upon by Rajinikanth
If Raghavendhra decides, ones does become a Super Star!
Keep chanting Rama's name, and you too are a shining Star!

There is one more strong reason for Rajnikanth's indisputable and unflickering fame. And it has been explained in Valmiki Ramayana!

Rama has put up His stay in Chitrakut Hills, renouncing His right to rule. Bharatha comes there, hoping to convince Rama to accept the Kingdom. Bharatha says, "Brother! As Fame does not stay away from broad-minded people, I shall not stay away from You!"

When I read these lines, immediately Rajnikanth's image and His ever-growing popularity flashed before my mind. There cannot be a better example than Rajnikanth for the statement made by Bharatha in The Timeless Epic, Shri Math Ramayana!

There are a lot of incidents that have made explicit, Rajnikanth's broad-minded character.

I am highlighting two of them here...

One of Rajnikanth's movie, Baba, did not do as great as his usual movies at the box-office. The distributors of the movie, queued up to him, claiming a refund for the losses. Though the movie was still running in the theaters and though there was scope for more collection, Rajnikanth never made a single argument. He paid the distributors what they claimed to have lost, taking up all the financial loss on his shoulders. And till date, he maintains his credits for not having let any producer, or distributor suffer loss because of him.

There was criticism on Rajnikanth for smoking onscreen. His opposers threatened to attack the theaters, if he continued to smoke onscreen. Rajnikanth, never took this on his ego. He acknowledged the rightness in their criticism and stopped smoking onscreen. His smoking style was one of his trademarks admired by his fans for over two decades. Yet, Rajnikanth gave it up without a frown and still managed to thrill his fans with a bubble-gum throw-catch style.

We can realise two things from this.
i. Shri Matha Ramayana teaches us to live with Glory.
ii. Swami Raghavendhra has made an example, for this teaching, to live amidst us.

Thus far I have been explaining about how and why Rajnikanth was blessed by Lord Rama.

Now I shall explain, instances where Rajnikanth has expressed his admiration for Lord Rama.

Rajnikanth has spoken strongly in favour of Lord Rama a couple of times in His movies.

In the movie Swami Raghavendhra, there is a scene in which Swami Raghavendhra debates with Shaivite philosophers. Rajnikanth, as Swami Raghavendhra, would ask them, "Which is Greater? Giving boons and staying away from devotees or being born as a Man and being a role model for them and guiding them?"

Another interesting scene, is from the movie Netrikkan.

In that scene, Rajnikanth as a college student would participate in a debate. The topic of the debate being, Prahladha or Shri Rama, who would be best suited to follow in today's world. The person who talks for Prahladha, would say, "These days we cannot be like Lord Rama. Lord Rama is of a very old time and not  applicable anymore." Rajnikanth would brightly retort, "If you think people of olden days cannot be followed anymore. Then you shouldn't have come to speak for Prahladha who lived in a time much older than Shri Rama's times!" That itself would be a knock-out point, in Rajnikanth's style. Then, He would add, 'Shri Rama is an exemplary for all humans. If only people followed Lord Rama's example, there wouldn't be any bickering or break-ups within the families.'

Twenty years ago, a fan of Rajnikanth brought his newly born baby girl to Rajnikanth and requested him to name her. Rajnikanth named her as 'Sita.' That girl, recently participated in a quiz program, hosted by Actor Surya and shared this information.

My respect for Rajnikanth grew multifold, when I realised his depth of admiration he has for Lord Rama and Mother Sita.

The very meaning of Lord Rama's name is, The one who gives unlimited happiness. The secret of Rajnikanth's success is the same too. Rajnikanth gives unlimited happiness for his fans. And his fans return it to him, in the form of his ever-growing victories.

Even in my life, there is an incident which proves that Rajnikanth gives unlimited happiness to his fans.

This happened during my school days. Once, I was feeling very dull and was brooding over something at home. My brother, Manivannan, came there and switched on the TV. A Rajnikanth song started to play. I watched for sometime and that's it, I brightened up like a lightening and rose up from my mild melancholy.

There is an incident in Vishnu Puranam, in which Indra would approach Maha Vishnu for help in fight with a demon. Maha Vishnu would give His Strength to the Vajrayudham of Indra and ask him to go and fight. Indra would easily win.
Same way, I guess Shri Rama has given His quality of 'giving unlimited happiness to all', to Super Star, Rajnikanth!

There are a bunch of songs of Rajnikanth in which, Shri Rama's name is mentioned.

When I was doing my twelfth standard in school, I saw in Rajnikanth that spiritual people can be colourful too.

Rajnikanth and Swami Vivekananda are two pillars in the Temple of Spirituality, seeing which, I entered it.

Rajnikanth is not just a successful person. He is also a successful person who can share the secret of his success with his fans.
He has repeatedly conveyed to us that God Needed to be Trusted and that Meditation helps!

Where Goodness is, Rama is!
Where Rama is, all that is Good, is!

Jai Shri Ram! Jai Jai Shri Ram!!
